🚨 According to an article by BBC News, pop icon Madonna was found responsive this past weekend and taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital in New York City. Reports allege that the 64-year old had been stricken with a serious bacterial infection, however, she received proper treatment to alleviate the issue and she is expected to make a full recovery.
In the meantime, she has canceled her 84-date tour which was set to launch next month in Vancouver, Canada. We wish the legendary Material Girl a speedy recovery and possibly she can hit the road later in the year once her health is stabilized.
📺 🎼 The 10th edition of NTV’s midyear music special, “THE MUSIC DAY” will air Saturday, July 1 starting at 3PM JST. The eight hour special will be held at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba and will be hosted by Sho Sakurai from the legendary J-Pop group ARASHI.
This year’s event will feature over 40 performing artists including some of Japan’s most popular acts such as KAT-TUN, BE:FIRST, King & Prince, Sexy Zone, NEWS, Ryokuoushoku Shakai, NiziU, SixTONES, Naniwa Danshi, Snow Man and so many more. “THE MUSIC DAY’ will also feature six acts from South Korea, among them, the internationally popular girl group, NewJeans.
🎟 A press release issued by the Avex Group confirmed that Japanese rock band tricot have announced the details of the United Kingdom leg of their current tour which began in Japan in January/February.
The band will perform 13 dates throughout November, capping off the tour with a show in Birmingham on November 21 at one of the UK’s most legendary music venues, Hare & Hounds.
New Music Announcements
🔥💿 It’s official, Japanese girl group XG announced that the first pre-release track from their upcoming debut mini album will be available Friday, June 30, at 12 AM midnight! The single is titled “GRL GVNG”.
🔥💿 Johnny & Associates issued a press release announcing that seven-member Japanese boy band, Naniwa Danshi, have released “LAI-LA-LA”, another single from their upcoming sophomore album release “POPMALL” set to drop on July 12.
The song is available exclusively on YouTubeMusic and you can catch the music video on YouTube. The choreography is pristine, the video is a must-see!
Milestones
📈 King & Prince continue to reach new milestones in their history as the group’s first single as a duo, “Nanimono” has debuted at #1 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart, having sold over 540,000 units. Congratulations to Ren Nagase and Kaito Takahashi on this achievement.
The pair will also be featured in a new variety show titled “Kintore” which will premiere July 1 on NTV.
📈 While we’re on the topic of the Oricon charts, SixTONES single “KOKKARA” also placed in the Top 5 of the Weekly Singles Chart for the second consecutive week, ranking at #4.
🏅A popular Twitter fan account (A’TIN GLOBAL SOCIETY) for the P-Pop Kings SB19 announced in a post that the “GENTO” music video has passed the 11 million views mark after only about a month and a half since its release. The “GENTO” craze continues with not only SB19 fans racking up the views in massive numbers but this latest single continues to grow the SB19 brand across the world, making an indelible mark for P-Pop on the global music landscape.
