Energy overdrive is the best way I can sum up or describe the latest single by BlackLight titled “Welcome to the Party”. The tech house smash record literally puts you in the mindset of a party vibe whether you are actually in one or not. With the release of “Welcome to the Party”, BlackLight continues to stamp his mark as an electronic music producer extraordinaire, as he follows up his release earlier this year, “Beautiful People”.
The Omaha, Nebraska native possesses a dynamic versatility that gives each of his productions a distinct character and aura while all of the tracks maintain the utmost important commonality…. and that’s quality!
“Welcome to the Party” hits you at a frenetic pace right out of the gate and bangs rhythmically with a pulsating synth bass line. The resultant lead groove and surrounding melodies, which consist of a hodgepodge of abstract sounds and oscillating notes, ignite an incredible spark that sets the tone of the track from the early going.
The track also features some funky percussion as a spectacular congo section accentuates the overall danceability of the track tenfold. The special percussive section has a soulful, tribal type of vibe and the additional incorporation of various vocal interpolations throughout the production, creates a number of catchy phrases that your listening senses can latch on to. The phrases are something that you will find running through your brain long after listening to the song or that you will start mouthing out yourself as you’re jamming to the track.
“Welcome to the Party” boasts such a vibrant and bold soundscape that the luminosity of the track is off the charts. Aside from its obvious high standard of production, the song is an exceptional piece from a musicality and arrangement standpoint. The transitions and drops are perfectly placed and a key factor in how the song just flows along seamlessly…..very easy to get immersed in the sounds to the point you can’t believe how fast the four and a half minute timeframe has passed so quickly!
