Gianluca Zanna Pairs Up with South African Singer Luc Rushmere to Add a New Flair to His Dance Ballad “I Want to Know (Are You the One)”

So how does a recording artist go about injecting a revitalizing jolt into a song that has already received a ton of international radio airplay and acclaim from critics and listeners alike without sounding redundant and turning off fans of the original? Well, the avant-garde Italian recording artist Gianluca Zanna never ceases to amaze as he finds ways to link up with some of the best music talent across the globe to create masterful works of art.
On this occasion, Gianluca redresses his electropop smash “I Want to Know (Are You the One) with a shift in timbre and tone as this version features the male vocals of Cape Town, South Africa singer and performer Luc Rushmere whose immense popularity has amassed him almost 800,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. Once again, Gianluca utilizes the wonders of modern technology as he and Luc teamed up via the internet. Gianluca poetically states that they are “two generations apart united by the love for music”. Very apropos statement for this pairing!
Aside from Luc’s feature on this remix, he will also notably be joining the upcoming European Club for “The Rhythm of the Night” Dance Hits from the 90s tour produced by Zanna Records so hey, hopefully, these two talented creatives link up on more projects, but let’s talk about Luc’s work on this remix.
Very fitting as the 90’s style upbeat dance vibe and aural energy magnified by an extraordinary collection of luminous sonics, and instrumentation are in no way altered in this remix version. You get the same magnetic soundscape, however, as the sultry textured female vocals energized the original, Luc’s dynamic, charismatic vocal performance carries an incredible vitality to the remix.
As a listener it’s awesome to have the track performed from both male and female perspectives as the diverse timbre, tones and vocal inflections laid out add an air of intrigue to the “I Want to Know (Are You the One)” family of remixes.

More About Gianluca Zanna
Gianluca Zanna’s own musical journey began in Italy, where he was born in Rome. After what was in many respects an idyllic early childhood near the sea, listening to his grandfather’s serenades, soaking in the cinematic epic musical scores and fantasy in his family’s movie theatre, he went to a much more sterile and even harsh environment–boarding school. From the young age of 10, he grew up in the Italian National Boarding School “Convitto Nazionale,” and then through the elite Military Academy Nunziatella, the oldest Military School in the world. During his Convitto Nazionale boarding school experience, Gianluca discovered the magic of music–he could fly away to another universe. From that point on, instead of playing soccer, he wrote songs–both lyrics and melody. He serendipitously found some old instruments in the attic of the school, and using them, he taught himself how to play a bit of guitar, bass and drum.
At that same time, as a young teenager, Gianluca studied Ancient Latin and Ancient Greek, where he discovered a love for the great Italian poets of the classical past, like Ovid, Catullus, and Petrarch, leading to Dante and then D’Annunzio; he admired their ability to transmit feelings and pictures in a few brief phrases as a way to fight for what they believed in whether it be love, freedom, or another of their humanist values. Every spare moment, inspired, he found happiness writing his own poetry in a special little notebook, filling it with what became lyrics to his songs.
When Luca grew up in Italy in boarding schools and he was dreaming to become a songwriter and emigrate to America, he was listening to the work of Brian Reeves, a world-famous record producer and sound engineer among his credits Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, Billy Idol, U2, Simple Minds. Today Brian Reeves has mixed some of his latest songs like “I Want to Know”, “Storm”, “I AM” and “The Other Side of my Heart Remix”
