“Giant in My Mind” is the latest single released by eclectic band, Big Bus Dream, off of their upcoming album release of the same title on June 3.
The introspective song is the result of Big Bus Dream’s Mike Shannon’s two-year journey of personal self-reflection and soul-searching.
Shannon states:
“If getting older and still making music wasn’t enough to think about, throw in a pandemic and you have plenty of time to think about your life.
Add all the crazy politics and divide in this country and you have plenty to write about.
Mostly, the record is about jumping, or just crashing through, hurdles over the years – lots of hurdles.”
This period of self-reflection for Shannon has culminated into a masterful and relatable composition that is “Giant in My Mind”.
As the mellow acoustic guitar strums wistfully throughout the song, Shannon’s nostalgic and pensive vocal delivery conveys the concept of the track brilliantly.

From my personal perspective of being a musician, I quickly identified with this song as I often reminisce on the grandiose ideas and dreams I clung to in my youth and comparing them to where I am now many years later.
However, “Giant in My Mind” can also speak to anyone who dreams to attain the highest level of success at whatever their chosen profession is and ponders on the road they’ve taken to succeed and what they’ve actually achieved as they get older.

More About Big Bus Dream
Big Bus Dream was founded in 2006 as the brain child of founder Mike Shannon who serves as the band’s songwriter, singer and producer.
Shannon was also the founder of 4th Ward in 2000 and was a product of the post-punk scene at New York City’s iconic nightclub CBGB.
The other half of the Big Bus Dream is Chick Tsikouras, who plays guitar and also serves as a songwriter.
Tsikouras has worked with the likes of acclaimed jazz guitarist Pat Metheny and legendary folk/rock group, The Mamas and the Papas.
Big Bus Dream blends roots rock with electrified arrangements.
A literate brand of individual style and commentary along the lines of John Lennon and Mark Oliver Everett (of The Eels).
