🎙️🎙️🎙️ ON THIS DAY IN MUSIC HISTORY, July 8, 1981, The Go-Go’s made history as the first all-female band to hit #1 on the Billboard album charts.⁠ ⁠

🎙️ Their debut album, BEAUTY AND THE BEAT was propelled by the smash singles “Our Lips are Sealed” and “We Got the Beat”.⁠ ⁠

🎙️The album would go on to be certified double platinum⁠. ⁠

🎙️Lead singer Belinda Carlisle would move on in the following years and carve out a pretty successful solo career with the #1 Billboard hit “Heaven is a Place on Earth”. ⁠
